Skiing Beaver Creek with Kids & Beginners: Lessons, Childcare and Rentals
Updated October 2026 by the Charter Sports team at The Charter at Beaver Creek.
Beaver Creek is one of the easiest Colorado resorts to learn at: beginner terrain sits up high where the snow is best, the village has escalators and free shuttles, and our shop inside The Charter is ski-in/ski-out. Here’s how to plan a smooth family or first-timer trip.
Why Beaver Creek works for families
- Gentle, well-groomed learning terrain and slow zones near the villages.
- A compact, car-free village with free shuttles, ice skating and afternoon cookies.
- Shorter lift lines than larger neighbors, so kids spend more time skiing.
- Ski-in/ski-out lodging at The Charter, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead.
Best beginner trails
New skiers start in the learning areas, then move to the long, mellow green runs near the top of the mountain and download on the lifts if needed. McCoy Park, at the top of the Strawberry Park lift, adds family-friendly gladed green and blue trails. Check the trail map for green circles and the daily grooming report.
Ski school, private instructors and childcare
The resort’s ski and snowboard school offers kids’ group lessons by age, adult group lessons and private instructors. Private lessons are worth it for nervous first-timers or families who want to ski together with a coach. Licensed childcare is available for younger children; book both lessons and childcare well in advance. From The Charter, the hotel shuttle runs toward the Centennial lift area where lessons meet.
